Cluster File Systems

A long list of what file systems are available can be found on Wikipedia, for us these file systems seem to be interesting enough for further testing:

  • Lustre - does not seem to have any data redundancy built into it, thus it looks extremely dangerous to run it on a 1300 server set-up.
  • GlusterFS - old fellow, was already tested in 2007 - drawbacks seem to be FUSE based and not 100% POSIX
