DNS scheme

The internal domain is atlas.local (managed by us), external domain might be atlas.uni-hannover.de (managed by RRZN)

Nodes

Nodes have three networking interfaces:

eth0 will be known by two names, e.g. mg0123 and ipmi0123 for the management network and the IPMI card respectively.

eth1 will be known only by n0123.

Thus the FQDN of a node may be n0123.atlas.local

Linux storage nodes

These nodes have in total 6 network interfaces, i.e.

eth0 and eth1 (data network): d04a and d04b where the may exist an alias for d04==d04a, i.e. d04.atlas.local

eth2 and eth3 (external network): d04a and d04b where the may exist an alias for d04==d04a, i.e. d04.atlas.uni-hannover.de

IPMI: ipmi04.atlas.local (four digits for nodes, two digits for data server)

Areca: raid04.atlas.local

Linux head nodes

These nodes have in total 4 network interfaces, i.e.

eth0 (data network): h3.atlas.local

eth1 (external network): h3.atlas.uni-hannover.de

IPMI: ipmi3.atlas.local (four digits for nodes, two digits for data server, single digits for head nodes)

Areca: raid3.atlas.local (single digits for head nodes)

X4500

These boxes will have 6 network interfaces, but not all are used:

10 Gb/s ethernet (data network): s08.atlas.local

1 Gb/s etherner (external): s08a.atlas.uni-hannover.de, s08b.atlas.uni-hannover.de, ... (if needed)

ILOM: ilom08.atlas.local
