IMBHB MDC Set 1 and 2 for Early Advanced detectors: Tests With CWB 2G


This wiki page reports in various tables all the results obtained so far with the cWB on the IMBHB MDC sets 1 and 2. Tables 1-4 refer to the 3-fold network configuration, i.e. HLV. Table 5 to the LIGO-only 2-fold network configuration, i.e. HL. Table 1 reports the preliminary results on the gaussian data set; table 2 reports the first results on the recolored data set (in the following referred to as "old"); table 3 reports the various attempts to optimize the production parameters; finally, table 4 lists the final (up to now) results (in the following referred to as "new"). The main difference between the "new" and the "old" results is that higher post-production thresholds have been applied to greatly reduce the background at the cost of a few percent loss on the range (Mpc). Among the production parameters, the main difference is that we used single-resolution-analysis (RSA) instead of multi-resolution-analisis (MRA): the latter can greatly improve the range for long signals, but it also increases a lot the background. For IMBHB, MRA is not necessary as the SRA is good enough. Moreover, the results on table 4 (4-6) have the injections starting at 10 Hz with taper and minimal search frequency at 16 Hz: the previous results are moderately affected by some artifacts due to the abrupt start of the injections at 25 Hz without tapering. For cWB this is a second-order effect which mostly helps the burst detection as the snr of the artifacts contributes somewhat to the candidates snr. Tables 5 and 6 report the results for the HL network before and after the change on polarization constrains: live time is inclusive of the 3-fold live time. The post-production thresholds have not been carefully tuned yet.
